The world in depth, almost like the real thing!
A incredibly common and popular form of entertainment and information source all the way up until the 1920s.

A forerunner of modern photo journalism!

Some of them, like the french tissues, are small wonders of artistic craftmanship and really fantastic to view in the stereoscope!

I've listed some of the ones I treasure the most in my collection.

STEREOVIEWS FROM YERKES OBSERVATORY
A most probably unique set of 18 stereoviews from the Yerkes Observatory, in a plain black cardboard box with label,
Photographs - Yerkes.

Mounts are plain grey cardboard and each view is described on handwritten label on verso.

Bought these way back in the 1970s from a man whos father had worked on the observatory. Some are dated and my guess is that the set is from around 1910 and most likely made for Yerkes archives.
